Health & Safety Officer

Health and Safety Officer - Gwent

Our client with a World Class Manufacturing facility in Gwent currently require a Health and Safety Officer to join their workforce.

The role will require this individual to develop and lead the health, safety and environmental systems plant wide, and encourage a culture that focuses on these areas in line with customer requirements.

This position will suit a candidate with 2 - 3 years experience of a Health and Safety role - ideally from within the manufacturing sector.

Main Duties Include:

- Ensure application and enforcement of all company policies and procedures on Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation;
- Ensure plant targets and objectives are met – safety, accident analysis, etc
- Identify, implement and recommend areas for improvement
- Develop and lead the safety systems plant-wide;
- Ensure contractors are audited to comply with site standards;
- To carry out and report on accident investigations as required;
- Liase with all departments to ensure the smooth running of the production area;
- Monitor safety data daily, and take appropriate action or highlight when necessary;
- Ensure weekly and monthly quality reports are produced;
- Communication of key safety issues;
- To participate in the training of new personnel, and to carry out site safety inductions;
- Provide advice and support to all departments on health, safety and environmental issues;
- Lead safety committee, and ensure clear consultation is held with all employees;
- To ensure the arrangement of effective site security;
- To be a key member of the production management team.

The following skills will be required:

- Academic qualification: Degree level education (technical bias);
- NEBOSH Certificate;
- IOSH membership or equivalent;
- Leadership;
