Commercial Manager / QS
Salary: £30-55,000 plus benefits
Location: East Midlands
This company is a market leading environmental technology and services business with a strong market position in the water, waste and renewable energy markets. A large pipeline of projects underpins continued growth and expansion into the waste processing and renewable energy markets.
They are looking to appoint a Commercial Manager into a newly created position to advise the Board and manage risks during this high growth period. They will be responsible for areas including:
Responsibilities
· Reviewing and leading the negotiation of contract conditions with clients, making recommendations to and seeking input from the Board and other senior managers
· Reviewing and leading the negotiation of terms and conditions for key suppliers, to include favourable payment terms, discounts and rebates where appropriate
· Negotiating framework agreements with clients and suppliers
· Reviewing and negotiating all other company legal documents such as confidentiality and joint venture agreements
· Managing the company’s insurances, ensuring adequate cover is maintained at all times to reflect business and contractual needs
· Assisting the project and operation managers with the commercial control of contracts including claims, disputes and closing out of contracts.
· Assisting the sales team with the estimating and tendering of projects.
· Introducing and implementing procedures associated with a quantity surveying function and educating project based staff
The ideal candidate for this role will come from a quantity surveying background with experience in negotiating wider commercial agreements.
Essential skills and experience
· Experience of NEC and ICHEME contracts
· Background in water and/or waste engineering and construction.
· A Quantity Surveyor or business professional, you will be highly experienced in dealing directly with clients and suppliers, and be confident in your ability to make this role a success.
· Ability and enthusiasm to take responsibility for all aspects of your role rather than delegate responsibility to others.
· Experience of dealing with insurance and day to day management of large contract negotiations.
